ABOUT
At Homeroom Tattoo, we believe tattoos are more than just art on skin — they’re moments of self-expression, acts of healing, declarations of identity, and sometimes just a fun way to carry something you love. We are a queer-owned studio in South San Jose, built on the idea that getting tattooed should be a safe, comfortable, and affirming experience for everyone — no matter your background, identity, or experience level.
Homeroom started with a simple goal: to create a space that feels like home. From the way we welcome our clients, to the artists we work with, to the events we host, everything we do is grounded in community. Our team of resident artists come from diverse artistic backgrounds and specialize in styles ranging from fine line and whimsical designs to bold anime and pop culture-inspired pieces. But beyond the tattoos, it’s the connections we build that make this space special.
Community First
What truly sets Homeroom apart is our commitment to being a community hub — not just a business. We host a variety of events that go beyond tattooing, bringing people together around shared passions and mutual support.
Throughout the year, we organize themed flash events for everything from Halloween and Pride to gaming and nostalgic pop culture. These events are more than just busy tattoo days — they’re celebrations. We often incorporate charity drives, raffles, and collaborative art into these events, using our platform to uplift local causes and voices.
We also open our doors to the wider creative scene by hosting community flea markets, art shows, and pop-ups featuring local makers and independent artists. For gamers and competitors, our Super Smash Bros. tournament was a recent highlight — drawing in friendly competition and fostering connection in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
A Safe Space for Self-Expression
Homeroom was built with the intention of being a safe space for everyone, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community and those who may have felt unwelcome or uncomfortable in more traditional tattoo environments. We know that getting tattooed can be a vulnerable experience — that’s why we prioritize consent, communication, and care in every session. Whether you come in with a fully fleshed-out idea or just a feeling you want to express, we’ll meet you with kindness, creativity, and collaboration.
What Homeroom Means to Us
The name “Homeroom” reflects what we strive to be: a space where people can come together, feel supported, and be themselves. Just like a homeroom class — it’s the first place you check in, the place where you belong before you head out into the rest of your day. We hope that every time you come through our doors, whether for a tattoo, an event, or just to say hi, you feel a sense of care, connection, and community.
We’re honored to be a part of the vibrant creative and queer scene in San Jose, and we’re constantly growing, learning, and evolving with our community. If you haven’t visited us yet, we hope you do — not just to get tattooed, but to see what makes this space special.
